Kevin Katich is a drummer/percussionist, teacher, songwriter and audio engineer in Los Angeles. He has been playing since the age of 7, professionally since his late teens and teaching since the age of 19. He started playing drums after being cast as Animal from The Muppets in a school play.  Throughout his teens, he studied with Mark Craney (Jethro Tull, Gino Vannelli, Tower of Power, Dweezil Zappa), John Molo (Bruce Hornsby, Phil Lesh), Tony Pia (Edgar Winter, Brian Setzer Orchestra, The Doobie Brothers) and Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth, Ringo Starr's All Star Band, Maynard Ferguson).    


He has recorded, performed and toured with many bands over the years including Edge of Paradise, Thunder City Shout (Produced by Mike Porcaro of Toto), XDAO, Living Dead Stars, Void Vator, Holy Boy, Sawtelle, Brutal Force, The Bruce Sanborn Band and has shared the stage with Gene Simmons, Reba MacIntyre, Jason Paige, John Fogerty, Gnarls Barkley, Solomon Burke, Stewart Copeland, Stephen Stills and Billy Steinberg. He has performed in many stage musicals such as the award-winningThe Devil and Billy Markham in the Fringe Festival, as well as Rocky Horror, Cabaret, Grease, Bye Bye Birdie and Children of Eden.


He currently is the songwriter/producer/drummer of his own project, Dark Moon Tragedy®. In addition to that, he recently recorded drum tracks for the Cobra Kai: The Saga Continues video game soundtrack, took the place of the legendary Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio) in a band called Black Sun Trine (which features John Avila of Oingo Boingo on bass), recorded on Shadow Logic’s debut album, Speed of the Dark, and has been working with Big Heart, a Queens of the Stone Age tribute band.  In addition to drums, he plays a multitude of percussion instruments such as congas, djembe, timbales, tabla, darbuka and cajon.
